place to take a holiday due to its close proximity to the mainland of Europe (only a four and a half hour flight from the UK), the
weather, the beaches, activities and pass times which are available to the tourist. Tenerife has something for everyone from young to old.

Weather And Climate
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday where you can take in some sun or top up that tan, then Tenerife is the ideal destination. The south of Tenerife
receives an average of 6.9 hours of sunshine per day. The average yearly temperature is 21ºC and in summer it rarely rises above
30ºC or below 16ºC in winter. The climate here makes for the perfect holiday as even when it is cloudy (and we would be lying if
we tried to kid that we did not get cloud) it is still warm. Tenerife has different climatic regions where the weather can vary
from area to area and from time to time. The south is generally warmer and receives more sun, where as the north is cooler and
receives more rain (and yes we do get rain here too). During the winter months Mount Teide is often covered in snow.
Beaches
You have a vast variety of beaches to choose from in Tenerife. Some of the beaches are made up of natural volcanic black sand,
and some comprise of imported white sand. There are many beaches to choose from, but one of the more exclusive beaches in the
south is Del Duque beach. This beach sits at the front of one of the most exclusive luxury hotels on the island called the Bahia
Del Duque. Many stars and celebrities stay at this hotel, so who knows, you could be lying next to a star while soaking up the
sun.
If you are into water sports when on holiday, then many of the more popular beaches in Tenerife have an array of water sport
activities to choose from. You can try your hand at jet skiing, kite boarding, wind surfing, bob diving, scuba diving,
para-scending and speed boating. El Medano beach is a popular destination for wind surfers due to the wind found in that area.
Restaurants
Think of any style of food and you can bet you can find one or more restaurants which caters for it in Tenerife. All of the main
resort areas have an excellent choice of restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets. Because Tenerife is an island there are
a great number of seafood and fish food restaurants. The fish are normally fresh and caught the same day. Menu prices are
reasonable and the standard of food is usually high. Whatever type of food you are looking for or whatever your budget, you
can bet Tenerife will have the perfect restaurant for you. I can tell you, I have gained a couple of stone in the ten years I have
been here. I blame it on the good food!
Bars and Entertainment
If you like the odd tipple and some entertainment while you are on holiday, then the south of Tenerife has an unrivalled choice
when it comes to drinking and entertainment. Which ever of the main resorts areas you choose, you will find something to suit.
There are numerous show bars to choose from, entertainment bars which show live acts, Irish, Scottish and English bars too. If
you are into the club scene, then you should check out the Veronicas and Starco areas, particularly in summer as the bigger clubs
tend to book some of the UK's top DJs. If you like a bit of jazz and blues, then that's covered too. If you are looking for a
quiet pint, a crazy night out in a club, some lively entertainment or something more obscure, you can bet Tenerife has it covered
when it comes to bars and entertainment.

The Loro Parque is worth a special mention as this is an ecological park which is driven by a conservation goal and theme. They actively breed animals in captivity and support world wide conservation efforts. The latest addition to the park is the killer whale show. Amongst the other exhibits, you can also see Dolphin and Sea Lion shows to boot. This park is located in the North of Tenerife near an area called Martiniez and is well worth a visit.
